June in Bari. The city was just starting to welcome a few summer tourists, but still far from the peak. At 6:30 AM, I left my hotel and walked to the box. The only other souls on the street were the Apus apus — small migratory birds that fly and sing in the early morning skies. They take flight when the air is still fresh — the only time of day when being under the sun doesn’t melt you.
The Box
Like many gyms around the world, Box 195 no longer uses the name “CrossFit,” but still follows the methodology and same style of classes.
It’s super well located — less than 2 km from the central train station — and easy to reach by train or on foot. Heads-up: the entrance isn’t exactly where Google Maps says it is; it’s on the main avenue.
The main space is around 300 m², with high ceilings and everything clean and well maintained. They just opened a second big room (around 100 m² by my guess) called Hangar 195, mainly for open gym. It’s available from 6 AM to 9:30 PM during the week.
WOD schedules are slightly limited — around 4 classes per day, depending on the day. Check the link I’ll drop in the tips at the end.
One full wall is covered with titles and certificates from the athletes there — many from my coach that day, Mirco Facchini. He welcomed me at the front desk with his piercing blue eyes and a warm smile. He gave me a quick tour of the space, and we were ready to start.
The WOD
Warm-Up:
5 minutes of any ERG machine… and 5 minutes of chiacchiere (aka Italian chatter).
Yes — Italians can hold a full conversation while doing cardio, it is proven. It was 5 minutes of movement mixed with daily menus, weekend gossip, hand gestures, laughs, and that signature Italian irony. Pure life. Pure love 🤌🏻

By 7:30 AM, sweat was already running, and the day was heating up just like my body.
WOD
Every 2 minutes for 8 rounds:
200m Run
Max Dumbbell Devil Presses in the remaining time
Killer and challenging especially with 24°C flashing on my watch when I wrapped up. 🔥
