ROCYCLE AMSTERDAM

I’m addicted to endorphins, I admit it. My day just doesn’t feel right if I don’t work out — my goal is to take at least one day off the gym, but I don’t always manage. Besides my CrossFit box subscription, I also use Urban Sports (formerly OneFit), hopping around different yoga studios in the city. But I also have my favorite cardio session: ROCYCLE 💖

On paper, it’s just an indoor cycling class — but in reality, it’s so much more than hopping on a bike, adjusting resistance, and following instructions.

The Class Experience

Rocycle offers a full-on experience.
From the moment you arrive, there’s a whole welcoming ritual — especially if it’s your first time. The staff team walks you through everything, helps you get set up, and yes… there’s even applause. I swear it’s not awkward. The lights are off, bikes are lined up facing the mirror, and no one is really looking at each other.
It is a challenge between you and you. Your bike. Your control. Your limits.
No competition.

The class is basically choreographed indoor cycling — almost like dancing on a bike. The instructor carefully curates the playlist, and while you’re riding on the beat, you’re also doing different moves, even some legit choreography.
Some are simple, some are wild, but they’re designed to make your legs and core burn.

It’s 45 minutes of pure energy: loud music, lights, clapping after a killer track, sweaty high-fives with your neighbor — yes, it’s real cardio. I burn anywhere between 350 and 550 calories per session.

And THEN… there’s the motivational speech part.
Some people love it, some don’t — like everything in life. But based on the number of daily classes and packed studios, it clearly works. Instructors always weave in life metaphors — it’s kind of their thing. There’s even a quote on the studio wall:
“What you do in the dark puts you in the light.”
It sets the tone for what’s coming.

During the warm-up you might hear something like:
“Start by recognizing your worth — by showing up for yourself today.”
“Dedicate the next 45 minutes to yourself. Leave everything else outside the room.”

Then, right before a sprint, when we’re about to fly, doing crunches and clapping to boost energy, the instructor might go deep:

“This is your moment. Don’t let your mind set limits. Don’t overthink. Go all in.”

And suddenly — boom — the beat drops, and you’re flying. Out of breath. Together.
When it’s over: “Honor your body for its effort. Celebrate yourself.”

The Studio
All you need to bring is your intention. Rocycle takes care of the rest.

The welcome: Staff (always smiling) ask for your last name to confirm your booking. They assign your bike and show you your spot on the map. Then comes the shoe size question — you’ll be given cycling shoes (mandatory), plus a fresh towel for your post-workout shower.
Just don’t be late: arriving 15 minutes early is non-negotiable.

Inside the room, your bike is spotless, there’s a white towel for wiping sweat, and someone will help you adjust your seat height. You also grab a dumbbell (0.5kg to 3kg) — sounds light, but trust me, I’m a CrossFitter and my arms burn with 3kg. One track is always reserved for upper body — a nice break for the legs.

Post-workout: the dress room is an experience of its own

Rocycle partners with Zenology — shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion — all there. But wait — there’s more. Cotton swabs, deodorant, makeup remover, even cotton pads. Everything.
Plenty of hairdryers, straighteners, and diffusers. Toss your towel in the bin and you’re ready for life.
And the latest treat? A new collab with Biotherm: body and face products for everyone — face wash, bath oil, body cream, and boosters. Fancy and effective. I saw people taking photos of the bottles to buy them later.

45 minutes of class + 15 of self-care = 1 hour total.
You get an amazing cardio session, feel like new, smell like heaven — all without having to carry anything more than your sweaty clothes home.

Rocycle makes fitness and an active lifestyle feel accessible and doable — even for the busiest of people.

🗣️ Testimonial: An Unusual Ride, An Inspired Instructor
One Friday morning at 7AM, I went to a class with Mitchell, one of Rocycle City’s best instructors. But that day, he woke up inspired to inspire.
The class was almost full. Before we even started, Mitchell was already setting the mood, throwing out warm smiles and warming up our hearts.

“From this moment on, you decide where you want to go. You decide who you want to be today.”

I am not able to say exact his words, but everything he said was a metaphor — for the ride, and for life.

He talked about the power of repetition — not just physically through daily workouts and discipline, but also mentally: repeating purpose, setting intentions.

He touched on goals, persistence, and how we’re already halfway through the year. He reminded us: don’t waste your time.

Mitchell’s not just a coach — he’s a speaker. And sometimes, we’re just in the right headspace to really feel the message. That day, I was.

I connected deeply with myself. My mind was focused on helping my body through the effort. And when I let go of overthinking, I connected with my emotions. I surrendered.
And yes… I cried. WHAT?…. wait, did you cry in a spin class, girl?!
Yup. I did.

It was powerful to witness someone doing their job with love. He gave us an incredible class and delivered a message that hit home — gently but with impact.

At the end, I had to thank him. We hugged.
And I told him: “Please, just keep doing what you’re doing.”
